Comic Book Cover Cliches II

Psylocke

In Comic Book Cover Cliches II we look right between the legs of these covers. I don’t know when this trend began but if I had to guess,  I’d say it was when the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only hit theaters. Just check out the sexy movie poster

You will also see variations on this theme (i.e. half a leg showing, or maybe just the arms) but it still followed the same formula of “Just who do those legs, arms, hands, etc. belong too?” Most of he time the mysterious figure would be silhouetted for that added suspense. “They’ve got legs and they know how to use them!”

Below is a little gallery of just some of those cliche covers. The only sad thing about these covers is their lack of originality. It’s no wonder they’re crying!

I can proudly say that I avoided using such gimmicks for all five covers of The Deciders mini-series.

A mistake that eventually led to Lindy’s death just to make him more reliant on Osborn’s guidance. You know what they say: The fourth most common reason marriages end is because one spouse is killed by another’s evil mastermind boss.
