First, let me give a shout out to everyone who stopped by my booth during the 2017 Hunstville Comic Con. Whether it was to talk about The Deciders
New York Comic Con here I come!
I’ll be in the Artist Alley this year at New York Comic Con October 10-13th! With me will be my very dear friend Nathan Massengill (artist, inker, writer, etc.). I’ll be signing issue #1 of The Deciders (including a special variant cover edition). There will also be art prints and a whole lot of other goodies at our table.
I just received the table number for Artist Alley that I will be at this year. Go get something to write with because I will be at table Y4. If you are attending please stop by the table and say hello!
New York Comic Con will be held
DC Comics – Villain Outfit Fail
Wow…um…normally I wouldn’t even give a second thought about DC Comics but this one I just had to rant about. So I was flipping through Batman #21 (The New 52) when I caught a glimpse of this guy…
In Comic Book Cover Cliches II we look right between the legs of these covers. I don’t know when this trend began but if I had to guess, I’d say it was when the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only hit theaters. Just check out the sexy movie poster
You will also see variations on this theme (i.e. half a leg showing, or maybe just the arms) but it still followed the same formula of “Just who do those legs, arms, hands, etc. belong too?” Most of he time the mysterious figure would be silhouetted for that added suspense. I guess the best point
Comic book cover cliches…”Oh, for crying out loud!”
Comic book cover cliches have been around for as long as…well comics. Sifting through a long-box or browsing the shelf at your local comic book store you may have noticed something. And that something is a cover with an overused, repeated, iconic scene. There is one such cliche that I cannot believe artists still use to this day.
Below is a little gallery of just some of those cliche covers. The only sad thing about these covers is their lack of originality. It’s no wonder they’re crying!
