Free Comic Book Day Signing @ Dr. No’s Comics

Free Comic Book Day

On Saturday, May 4, 2019, everyone around the world will be celebrating Free Comic Book Day (FCBD)! FCBD encourages new readers to go into their local comic book store. To achieve this, those stores will give away specially printed copies of free comic books. Others might offer special deals and host creator signings to anyone visiting their store.

With our successful appearance at the London Comic Con Spring 2019 Convention, it is time to announce our appearance at Dr. No’s Comics & Games for FCBD! Both Crystal and I will be there signing issues of Trophy Girls!

Happy Valentines to My First Husbando

My husbando Serpentor

Husbando refers to a fictional male character from non-live action media (i.e. anime, video games, manga, etc.) to whom one is attracted to. Since Valentines Day is here I thought it might be fun to write about my very first husbando.

A husbando is usually a male character from the world of anime, however, mine is from an American cartoon. (Even though the series was animated in Japan)

So who is this male animated character that caught my attention and my heart when I was about 8 or 9 years old? It is non-other than the almighty Serpentor, emperor of Cobra!

None, may challenege Serpentor!

My introduction to Serpentor came from the G.I. Joe cartoons I’d watch every day before school. His voice, his exotic outfit, and his signature “This I command!” captivated me. No matter how many times he lost to G.I. Joe, he was still my hero! I owned most of the toys including my beloved Serpentor and his air chariot. When I received the Cobra Terror Drome for Christmas I took this picture.

The Joe’s don’t stand a chance against my team of Cobra!

In my make-believe world G.I. Joe could never defeat my husbando, Serpentor. G.I. Joe: The Movie is still one of my favorite animated films. (I bet some of you are even singing the opening theme song…c’mon admit it!) At least for me, Serpentor reigned supreme throughout the entire movie, and yes he did kill Duke.

R.I.P. Duke…I don’t care what was overdubbed at the end of the film

My first husbando reigns in his classic look

In the comics, Serpentor has gone through many incarnations and even resurrections. However, it’s his classic look that continues to catch my eye and my heart.

Last year Sideshow Collectibles & Prime-1 Studio released a limited edition statue of Serpentor! He is 32 inches his massive glory and gorgeousness! Yes, I bought one because what kind of woman doesn’t buy the perfect statue of her first husbando?

In case you’re wondering, a man will call his fictional anime wife or lover a waifu.

Appearing @ London Comic Con Spring 2019

London Comic Con Spring 2019

London Comic Con Spring 2019 just got even better because Crystal and I will be there promoting Trophy Girls! This will be the first time Crystal has accompanied me to a comic conventnion as both an author and creator.

The convention will take place at the ‘Olympia London’ 2nd – 3rd March 2019. Our table will be in the Small Press & Artist Alley section of the convention. It’s a dedicated area where independent creators, such as ourselves, can promote and sell our publications. We’ll have copies of Trophy Girls issue #1, both regular and variant covers, and prints featuring artwork from The Deciders and Trophy Girls.

Preparing for London Comic Con Spring 2019

My experience this past weekend at the Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment comic convention was delightful and a great learning experience. It gave me a better understanding of the items most likely to sell at the London Comic Con Spring 2019. I also learned the art of setting up and breaking down one’s table when given a limited time frame.

Crystal and I are very approachable and love meeting and talking to just about anyone. If you approach our table with an item (it can be anything from a magazine to a DVD that we have appeared in) and would like us to autograph it, we will be more than happy to do so. So please don’t be shy about approaching us.

As soon as I know where our table is going to be within the Small Press & Artist Alley area, I will let you all know. As of right now, I will not get that information until a week or so before the event.

We hope to see you all there! To get the full details on the convention just click here.
