The Top Cow Talent Search is over and the winners chosen. Matt Hawkins sent a mass email stating this years Top Cow Talent Hunt winners will be announced later. Unfortunately, receiving the mass email means you were not one of the chosen. Needless to say, I was not one of the chosen.
It’s a bummer BUT there could be several reasons why my pitch wasn’t picked. Matt says
If you want feedback on your story, please respond to this directly to me and I will get back to you and we’ll correspond on it before summer.
This will be helpful for future pitches and scripts so of course I emailed him and graciously asked him for his feedback.
He goes on to say
SO NEXT YEAR’S TALENT HUNT!!! We will be running this again 9/1/13 – 12/31/13 and I won’t be announcing the rules until Comicon in July…
I’ll definitely be tossing my hat into the ring again and here’s the best part
Next year there will be four winners and at least one of them will be a female participant in both story/art categories.
So I guess it’s time for me to start brainstorming my next pitch and script for this next talent hunt.
But in the meantime the first issue of my own comic book series The Deciders is nearing completion so that’s exciting news!
So glad to read there will be another talent hunt! I tried to prepare a submission myself but work on top of a tough college semester kept me from finishing by the deadline. Researching the Wheel of Shadows brought me by chance to your submission. It was brilliant. I love the original angle you brought to Sabine.
I’ve been following Top Cow comics for about 5 or 6 years now and especially like Witchblade, Artifacts, and the six-part Angelus series. In 2011, I got an email excerpt published in the back of Witchblade 149 and upon reflection realized how much comics have meant to me. Getting to the point, I just wanted to ask how you came to write comics. I’ve been forming an Angelus story in light of the Rebirth saga (even though things may change again with Progeny), and there’s not much I want more than to be comic writer myself, and would love to know how you managed to get involved in this wonderful medium. Anyway, looks like I’ll be entering the next talent hunt when it comes around, and I wish you the best of luck on your next submission!
